The Anterior Crown Process
Anterior crown restorations typically require two sessions. During your first appointment, your dentist will take impressions to create your custom crown that perfectly matches the size and shape of your tooth. After taking your impressions, the tooth will be numbed so that damaged or decayed portions can be removed. Next, the tooth will be filed, and a temporary crown will be placed with temporary cement. The temporary crown is designed to remain on the tooth for two weeks while the permanent crown is created, so the dentist will check your bite to ensure the alignment is correct and comfortable.
At the second appointment, your permanent crown will be carefully placed and polished to ensure even spacing and a proper bite. Proper dental hygiene and care is essential for maintaining your dental crown, so after your treatment, your dentist will discuss the proper care and cleaning of your new crown and answer any questions you may have.
